The greatest freediver of all time on how the ocean can heal
Alexey Molchanov has spent much of his life exploring the limits of human performance underwater. Widely regarded as one of the greatest freedivers of all time, he approaches the ocean not only as a place of competition, but as a space for connection and self-discovery. This film dives beneath the records and achievements to uncover the person behind them.

The project
The project
The objective was to create a portrait of Alexey that explored the deeper motivations behind his extraordinary accomplishments. Rather than focusing solely on competition and performance, the film sought to reveal the relationship between the athlete, the ocean, and the personal journey that connects them.

Our approach
Our approach
The production embraced an observational documentary style, allowing Serdar’s routines, reflections, and interactions with his environment to drive the narrative. Rather than relying on explanation alone, the film uses imagery, atmosphere, and lived experience to immerse audiences in his world.
